What the free check covers

Five checks on every address

The free verifier runs the same checks as paid bulk verification. Nothing is held back.

Syntax

Is the address written correctly? Catches typos like a missing @ or a stray space.

Domain and mail servers

Does the domain exist, and does it have mail servers (MX records) that can receive email?

Disposable addresses

Is it a throwaway inbox from a temporary-email service? Those sign-ups rarely become customers.

Mailbox (SMTP)

We ask the receiving mail server whether this exact mailbox exists, without sending an email.

Catch-all domains

Some domains accept mail for any address, so a mailbox can't be confirmed. We tell you when that's the case.

Reading the result

What each result means

Valid

The mailbox exists and accepts mail. Safe to send.

Invalid

Bad syntax, no mail servers, the mailbox doesn't exist, or it's full. Mail to it bounces.

Risky

A disposable address, or a catch-all domain where the mailbox can't be confirmed.

Unknown

The mail server didn't give a clear answer this time. Try again later; it isn't invalid.

Verify whole lists, or from your own app

A free account comes with 100 credits. Upload a CSV to clean a list, or call the API from your sign-up form. After that, credits are pay-as-you-go and never expire.

FAQ

Free email verifier: questions

Is the email verifier really free?

Yes. You can check 3 email addresses a day on this page with no account and no credit card. Every check is the full one, including the mailbox (SMTP) and catch-all tests. A free account adds 100 credits on top.

Do you send an email to the address?

No. We connect to the mail server that handles the domain and ask whether the mailbox exists, then hang up before any message is sent. The person behind the address never sees anything.

Can I verify a whole list for free?

Create a free account and you get 100 credits, enough to verify 100 addresses from an uploaded CSV file. For bigger lists, credits are pay-as-you-go and never expire.

Is there a free email verification API?

Yes, the same 100 free credits work with the API. Each address checked uses one credit. See the API documentation for examples in cURL, JavaScript, Python and PHP.

Why does a result say Unknown?

Some mail servers delay or refuse checks from servers they don't know (greylisting), or simply time out. Unknown means we couldn't get a clear answer, not that the address is bad. Checking again later often gives a definite result.

What does catch-all mean?

A catch-all domain accepts email for every address, real or not, so no verifier can confirm a single mailbox there. We mark those Risky so you can decide whether to send.

Do you keep the addresses I check?

We log each free check to enforce the daily limit and prevent abuse. We never sell or share the addresses. Details are in our privacy policy.
